acer laptop how do I get it to connect to the internet without it being plugged in?

I just purchased ab acer laptop and I canot get it to connect to the internet unless I have the power cord plugged into the wall. I have high speed internet and a wireless internet conection in my home. The computer connects fine when I plug the power cord in but when I try to use the battery pack the computer turns on but wont connect to the internet.
The battery is fully charged

Wierd question. If you just purchased the laptop, the battery needs to be fully recharged before you can use it without the AC power. The battery doesn’t have enough power to run the wireless connection to the internet via it’s wireless card, hence you need to be on AC to connect.

Odd question…
Make sure the battery is fully charged. The computer does require more power to use the wireless, but it shouldn’t matter to that degree at all.
If after charging the battery it doesn’t work, it almost sounds like you have a short in the computer somewhere.
