I am looking into building my own notebook computer but I can’t seem to do it for under $400. I saw at Best Buy they have some for $299. How can they sell them so cheap? What is their secret?

They buy wholesale. You’re buying retail.

Hope that helps.

ordering in bulk allows you to buy them cheaper. wholesale companies would much rather guarantee a smaller profit per unit by selling in bulk to a reseller, than risk losing money selling retail.

They buy comp’s for $20.00 apiece, sell to you for $400. Nothing you can do. Remember Notebooks do not have the same capabilities as a Laptop or a HC. $400 sounds a little steep . keep looking for a better deal
