I sought a replacement for my Palm smartphone and after thorough research, decided on the HTC Ozone. I loved the phone: Lightweight, nice keyboard, good camera, great features, etc. After the first few days of owning the phone, the camera stopped working. When I brought the phone back to the Verizon store, the sales staff saw the problem and immediately replaced the phone with a brand new one. Now with a second brand new phone, a few days later, the same problem happened again. I did a hard reset, which completely wiped out everything (including my three downloaded apps), and the camera still didn’t work. I really wanted this problem solved because I love everything else about the phone, but I need a phone that works. I took it back. So after two weeks of owning two brand new HTC Ozone phones that stopped working, I’m switching to Blackberry.
I understand that Verizon has reported similar problems to HTC and they’re working on fixing it. Hopefully, by the time you read this, the problem will be solved and you’ll enjoy the phone.

It was time to switch from my current phone, a BB 8830 World Edition and after extensive research, I kept coming back to this phone so I ordered it knowing that I can change my mind within 30 days.
It arrived and the first thing I noticed was how light it was compared to my old BB. Screen size was similar and the QWERTY kb was positione straight across and a little off kilter (the ‘L’ button is under the ‘I’ instead of ‘O’).
After familiarizing myself with the Ozone, I began to play with it and immediately noticed several things – the Ozone was much faster especially when browsing the internet, the kb was a lot clearer in the dark, and the D-pad took a little getting used to compared to the Blackberry.
After a couple of days fine tuning all my preferences in, I can say that the Ozone is a much better product overall than the 8830. The D-pad is definitely a bit slower to use but the trade off is that I don’t accidentally hit and engage the trackball when the phone is in my pocket. Love that it has wi-fi and a camera, although it is a generation or three behind RIM’s current offerings – it still does the job though. As for being a WinMo phone – you either love it or not. Its fine for me.
I was able to pick up this phone from VZW for $10 and can safely say the low price is no reflection on the quality of this product. I highly recommend it!

This is a great phone, but I can’t get the bluetooth to stop dropping my connection. Have called Verizon, they do not know “of a problem,” although every message board on the internet does.

I have mixed feelings about this phone that I’ve had for a week. It has plenty of features but some of them fit into the “WTF were the designers thinking!” department.
1. The Call History shows only the phone number. No time or date. Just about every cheap cell phone provides call time and date so why not this?
2. When you create an email account you are forced to set up an unlock code. But, when you get a phone call you have to enter the unlock code to answer it. I’ve missed answering calls because I couldn’t unlock it fast enough.
3. You have a choice of only 1 minute or 5 minutes for the time that inactivity causes the phone to lock itself. Not enough. Worse, you can’t turn it off as the option to do so is grayed out in the settings page. So, once you set an unlock you can’t remove it. Stupid! I had to reset the phone to factory settings to get rid of the unlock and lost call history, emails, etc.
4. There is no way that I could find to delete an email account after its been set up. Stupid! Again, I had to reset the phone to factory settings to get rid of the email account and lost call history, emails, etc.
5. The silver button in the middle of the directional keypad is too narrow and shiny so you have to come at it sideways with the tip of your thumb and hope it doesn’t slip. Try and come at it from below with your thumb and you end up pressing the up/down arrows by accident. This should be a square or circular button with a non-shiny surface.
6. Windows Update doesn’t work!
Sorry but I’m not imnpressed and will probably take advantage of Verizon’s 30-day exchange to get something different, perhaps a Blackberry.

When upgrading from the Blackberry Curve, I had two phones in mind: the Blackberry Tour and HTC Ozone. The features of both phones are similar. However the differences were that the HTC Ozone had wifi and flash support. By downloading Skyfire, I am able to view or play embedded videos or music on practically any website. For example Youtube, CNET, or Cnn videos. With large amount of features and the ability to stream audio and video, battery life is something that needs to be monitored. Overall a wonderful cell phone that is similar to having a computer in my pocket.
