Do not order a computer from Amazon- whether you select free shipping or more costly option, they may ship it UPS. After repeated calls to track my package when it didnt arrive, I finally learned that UPS delivered my computer to completely wrong address. After repeated inquiry calls, being disconnected, etc. UPS confirmed that they delivered my Samsung netbook to wrong address & had someone with different name sign off for it-at which time I was told to contact Amazon to trace it. They could not so much as provide contact no. for Amazon rep. so I had to start at square one on the website to locate that. I spent hours on phone with both UPS and Amazon, the latter who offered to send me another computer but again they cannot guarantee what company will ship it- it will likely be sent by UPS again as, the Amazon rep explaind, their warehouse dictates what co. ships products, thus you cannot request Fedex or other carrier be used. After many years of having reliable service from Amazon, I feel compelled to warn others to purchase expensive items like this computer from some other vendor with more reliable shipping options as I will never order anything more than books from Amazon again. This is not the first time Ive had significant problems with UPS but it is by far the most unbelievable, that my new computer was delivered into hands of some total stranger, who clearly signed with a different name, and I’ve now spent at least 10 hours in recent days on phone trying to sort this all out. I am still waiting to see if the replacement shipment will ever reach me. I imagine the product is fine so apologies the review is not more specific to that — but only whoemever got my computer can really say as of now. I just wanted to alert others to this mess so you can avoid such a frustrating experience.

First off, I’ve been a Mac user for 2+ years, so the Windows XP on this little machine does not impress in any way. And of late I’ve been getting used to Vista – so XP in comparison is just plain boring.
Looks – Not attractive by any stretch. Almost ugly. (I got the sapphire blue one). 2.5 stars. 3 at the most.
Ports, H/W etc – may be good – 3-and-half stars. (4 star ? – thats a stretch).
Weight, size, form-factor – light, ok.
The screen – you cannot compare it to the screen on a regular laptop – its not as good. Better go with LED.
Build quality – nothing negative to report in the short time I have had it.
Keyboard – nothing special there, very small compared to a regular laptop, wont want to make you type long emails.
No major defects to report other than its usual ‘Wintel’ lameness -surely the world has moved on to iPhones, blackberrys and Palm Pre’s.
So why did I buy it?
I bought this as a gift for someone, but I am almost regretting this decision… Except its likely they might like it a whole lot!!
I am not Apple fanboy, though I am both a seasoned Apple, Windows and Unix user. (not sure if thats relevant ).
You will of course get what you pay for – at this low price it maybe good, but consider this – you are adding one more boring , unproductive gadget to your life.
I can predict this will gather dust in a short while.

OK for internet and sling media but with no cd drive I could not use the setup cd that came with the unit. Need to purchase an external drive

I ordered the Samsung NC10-14GB on 5-24. It was listed as in-stock. On 5-28, I received a message from Amazon saying they were having problems with shipment. I went back to Amazon to find out what the hold up was. On 5-29 they responded “I’ve checked our website and see that we don’t have any more stock of “Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Netbook” right now, and we’re not sure when we’ll be able to get more.” I checked the Amazon web site about 20 minutes after I received Amazon’s response. it still showed the Samsung NC10-14GB as in-stock. I canceled my order and went to BeachCamera.com. It was in-stock and was shipped out the next day.
If I had kept my order with Amazon I’d probably still be waiting for shipment. And, Amazon gets the NC10-14GB from Beach Camera.

The Samsung NC10 has a lot of nice features for a netbook but you have to realize that the Intel Atom Processor is weak, weak, weak. Streaming internet video is choppy (even with 2 GB of RAM) and it is extremely slow compared to the Centrino Core 2 Duos.
