Did a lot of research on laptops and decided on this machine. Was going to buy it from Amazon yesterday. Then in the afternoon I checked their site and it went from $1,599.00 to the current price of $1,749.99. Quite a price jump. Had also been checking other sites…Tiger Direct for one. Their price stayed steady at $1,499.99 with free shipping. Couldn’t pass that up, so I ordered from them. Will check back with my opinion of the machine after I have had it for a while. But my advice: check other sites and check them often. As long as they are reputable, well known sellers and have the best price…go for it.

Was extremely excited about this laptop and couldn’t wait for it to arrive in the mail. It finally came and I decided to test it out after I got all my updates. So I installed Crysis only to be disappointed that it would freeze 3-10 minutes after starting the game. Tried Bioshock 1 and the same thing happened. Couldn’t find any updates for the video card or the bios so decieded to do a system recovory just to see if it would help. Same thing happened also the USB ports stopped working giving a Code 43 error. I spent a few days talking to Toshiba about it trying to resolve the issue when they said it was a hardware problem and to send it in. Got it back a week and a half later only to be VERY disappointed and GREATLY angered to find that all they did was a system recovory and sent it back saying USB ports work good. NOPE!! USB ports do not work, still giving a Code 43 error AND now my web camera no longer works. It came back WORST than when I sent it to them. Cannot wait until Monday (when their customer service opens) so I can return this $1600, 10 lbs, pile of crap.
Pros: Good speakers and great looking screen.
Cons: Pretty much everything, refer to the above paragraph.
Would never recommend that anyone purchase this laptop, unless you like headaches and feeling very angry.

This is an awesome laptop!!!!!! Im computer stupid and it makes use easy. The keyboard is a dream to use the dvd/blueray player is as clear if not clearer than my TV.
For gaming the laptop is the best computer i have ever had the pleasure of using, the graphics card can handle the highest settings in any game.
If i needed another laptop this would be the one i would buy!!!!!!!!!!!

For the price this is 1 amazing laptop! I’ve thrown Star Trek Online, Bioshock 1 and 2 at it and everything played fully maxxed out w/ great frame rates. Left 4 Dead 2 even looks impressive on it! The Blu Ray drive has come in handy as well for watching movies and shows. The only complaint I have is that it is a fingerprint magnet…but honestly it is only a small complaint.

After exhaustive research, I decided the Toshiba Cosmio x505-870 powerhouse had the best specs for the best price. This was the next in a long line of Toshiba laptops for me. I was hooked after my first one about 10 years ago. Due to the design, durability, price, and support, Toshibas have always been my first choice and I would, and do, recommend them to everyone that asks. The Cosmio X505-870 is my new passion. My only complaints are minor and cosmetic. The slick surface of the keyboard and the awkward multimedia and power buttons are the only hindrances I have found. The new, positive design elements far outway the problems though. The toned-down color scheme, the disable button for the touchpad, and the beautiful 18.4 screen(although not full 1080p) to name a few. There were some issues with the BIOS that Toshiba addressed directly, so I would suggest updating the BIOS immediatly after creating your restore disks. I don’t think it would be possible to regret the purcase of this system, and I recommend it whole-heartidly.
