The high ratings given by others seem accurate as to performance. I’ve had my VA926 for more than a month now and am very satisfied. The 5:4 aspect ratio and lack of speakers, suits my preference and available space, as I don’t use a PC for movies. Two caveats for others: The instructions say nothing about adjusting the tilt, which was slightly frontward. The pivot bolt was so tight I feared breaking the plastic moldings if I tried to tilt the screen back; and there was no way to get at the nut with a wrench. Finally I phoned ViewSonic and a helpful tech said to just hold the screen at top and bottom and push the top back firmly. That worked. Second, The five buttons are silver color in the photo. In reality they are tiny black rectangles with microscopic legends molded in, against a black bezel –basically unreadable, and not single-function. To adjust brightness today, I had to put in the CD and find the pages in the User Guide pdf to explain the buttons. “Designers” who just mold important legends into black plastic are idiots, sadists or both: lawyers!

Easy to set up and a good clean picture, bright colors, no distortion. I just wish there was greater availability of these standard size monitors as all of us consumers don’t want or need widescreen.

Purchased this monitor from Amazon and have used it for about a year. I did my homework before purchasing this item and it has lived up to my expectations 100 percent.
Easy to use on screen adjustments for color, brightness, contrast, etc~ Crisp colors, sharp images and native max resolution of 1280×1024 make this monitor a winning proposition for users regardless of use; business graphics or gaming. Especially though, for gaming.
This is not a “wide screen” 19 inch monitor with a 16-9 aspect ratio- it is the full blown 19″ version with a 4-3 aspect ratio. You get a great bonus in usable screen area that comes in handy on the desktop and allows for much better viewing in my opinion. Vertical refresh rates range from 60~75 Hertz. The preferred (default) resolution is 1280×1024 at 60 Hertz.
I rank it as the best value in it’s class.

Just bought one of these to replace an NEC that was slowly fading away. I agree with the observations of the other two reviews with respect to performance and value.
I’m also using it in a two-display setup, with a Mac, and it is better in some respects than the more expensive (but much older) 19″ NEC monitors that I’ve been using. The “go to black” (a TV term) is much better than the NEC, as is the robustness of the colors, when compared with a television colorbar test pattern side by side. On the other hand, the evenness of the florescent backlighting is better on the NECs: on the Viewsonic it is brighter on the bottom, with a gradual transition to not-quite-as-bright on the top. Not a problem for me, but for color professionals, an issue.
The only negative that I can register is that (unlike the NECs) the stand does not allow the monitor to sit more than four inches or so above the desktop. The NECs have an extendable/adjustable stand which allows the monitor to sit some seven inches above the surface, which makes it much easier on the neck muscles.

I had a specific need for 19″ monitor that was not wide screen. I needed one that was old school 4:3 ratio. The audio editing software that I use stacks multiple tracks vertically. The wide screens that are currently so popular ended up squeezing my vertical tracks so small that I couldn’t see them like I needed to. This one solved my problem. It is a ViewSonic VA926. Great picture, good looking, and great warranty. Only complaint I have is that you have no way of lowering the monitor on it’s stand. I knew that when I bought it, so I wasn’t caught by surprise. The only surprise I had is that Amazon got it here so quickly with their free shipping offer.
